Prayer for young adults
Anchors: Amos 9:9
Lord,
You said You would sift Israel like grain in a sieve, but not one grain would fall to the ground. Amos 9:9. The sifting is hard. The promise is sure. Not one grain will be lost.
I have been in a season that feels like shaking. My plans, my friendships, the way I see myself, the future I had in my head — all of it has been moving in ways I did not choose. My first thought is that the shaking means loss. Some of what is in the sieve feels like it is about to fall through and be gone.
But the sieve is in Your hand. The shaking is not the disaster I keep thinking it is. The shaking is how You separate what is good from what is not. The grain, the part that matters, will not fall. The sifting is not out of control. Your hand is steady. You do not lose what is Yours.
So today, when the shaking comes, I will not panic. Some of what is being shaken loose was never meant to stay. Some of what is shaking but holding is grain, and it is going nowhere. The sieve is in the right hands. I am not in danger of being lost.
Hold me through the sifting. Bring out what is true in me. Let what is not true fall away. You made this promise. I am standing on it.
Amen.
