Prayer for young adults

Father, Your love came first. We love You because You loved us first. That order does not change.

I have been trying to make love for You come from inside me. Pumping up feelings. Faking devotion. Acting like I feel more than I do. Then feeling bad when the feeling fades. It is a tired cycle. And I do not need to keep doing it.

Because love for You is not something I make on demand. It is drawn out of me by Yours. The right move is to look at the love You have already given. The cross. The Spirit. Your patient kindness over years. And let my love rise as I look.

So today, I stop trying to manufacture it. I sit in front of the love already here. The fact that I am alive in Christ is Your love for me. The fact that the gospel found me is Your love for me. The fact that I am being kept this morning, in this body, in this faith, is Your love for me.

Let the love I owe You rise under the love I have already received. Not made by my effort. Drawn out by Yours. Move my will to love You by showing me again how deeply I have been loved.
