Prayer for young adults

Anchors: Genesis 7:16

Lord, You shut the door.

Genesis 7:16 says You closed Noah in the ark. Not Noah. You. The last act before the rain was Your hand on the door from the outside.

I am a door-checker. I have put my trust in Christ. I believe. I am inside. But then I get up at night and check. Did I really believe enough? Was I sorry enough? Will I still be safe in the morning? The checking does not make me feel safe. It just makes me tired.

But the verse tells me who shut the door. Not me. You. My safety does not depend on how tightly I hold on. It depends on Your hand on the outside. Noah's job, once the door was shut, was to be inside with his family and let the ark do what arks do.

So today, I stop checking the door. The shutting is Yours. The keeping is Yours. My job is to be inside, to live in Christ, to care for the people around me, to do the next plain thing in front of me. If hard times come, they will not break through the door You closed. You are strong enough to hold it.

Let me sleep, and work, and rise, on that ground.

Amen.
