Prayer for young adults

Father,

These were the potters, and those who lived among plants and hedges. They lived with the king for his work. 1 Chronicles 4:23.

A small note in a long list of names. But it is in Your Word. The potters lived with the king. Their work belonged to him, and he was glad they were doing it.

I have been looking down on my own job. The work is honest and needed, but it is not impressive. I keep dreaming of a career that would make me more interesting to talk about.

But Your kingdom runs on work that nobody stops to admire.

So today, help me see my actual work as Yours. The spreadsheet. The customer email. The meeting that should have been an email. The small things I do again and again. The clay is going through my hands for a reason, even when no one important is watching.

Let me live with You in the work itself. Stop me from waiting for a more exciting calling before I treat the one I have as Yours.

The potters were Yours. The hedges they kept were Yours. The pots and the plants — Yours.
