Anchors: Song of Solomon 2:15

Lord,

Take the little foxes. That is what the bride asked in Song of Solomon 2:15. Not the big wild animals. The small ones. The ones that slip through the fence and eat the grapes before they are ready.

I watch for the big sins. The ones that would ruin my job or my relationships. I keep my eye on those. But the small ones run free. The little bit of contempt. The small lie I tell to make things easier. The hour I waste and then feel empty inside. The half-truth I tell myself about how busy I am.

None of these would make the news. But all of them together are eating the fruit.

The vines do not lose the harvest all at once. They lose it a little at a time. The same is true in my life. My walk with You is not usually wrecked by one big fall. It is worn down by a thousand small choices to not be honest.

So today, take the little foxes. Show me the small habits I stopped noticing. The patterns I decided were not worth fixing. The quiet compromises I am okay with.

Take them, the way the bride asked. The vines will grow more fruit if the small thieves are gone. Help me watch for the small things, not just the big ones.

Amen.
