Prayer for young adults
Anchors: John 18:8, John 18:1
Jesus, when they came to arrest You, Your first thought was for Your friends. You stepped forward so they could step away. You took the hit so they could run.
I am not like that. When pressure comes, I look for cover. I look for someone else to take the heat. I pass blame. I stay quiet when I should speak up. I take credit that belongs to someone else.
But that night in the garden, You showed us what love does. You go first. You take the cost. You protect the people behind You.
So today, train me to step forward instead of duck. When credit comes my way that should go to someone else, help me give it to them. When I have blamed someone who did not deserve it, help me take it back. When there is a hard moment and I am hoping someone else will speak, help me be the one who opens my mouth.
Not big heroics. Just small steps into the discomfort so someone I love does not have to.
Make me more like You, Jesus. The One who said, let these go.
Amen.
