Anger Prayer

Anchors: Ephesians 4:26

Father, Your Word says to be angry and not to sin. Do not let the sun go down on my anger. There is a kind of anger that comes when real wrong has been done. That anger is allowed. But there is another kind that turns into bitterness if I hold it through the night. That kind I must let go. Father, mine often crosses that line by bedtime. I lie on the pillow and go over the hurt again. I think of what I should have said. I keep the case open long after the sun is down. Close it. Whatever real hurt is in me today, help me deal with it before nightfall. Help me speak to the person if I can. Help me give the case to You if I cannot. Do not let bitterness take root in me. You let anger come as a flash of flame. You do not let it stay as a slow burn all night. Help me to obey You in this. Amen.
