Prayer for teens

Anchors: Song of Solomon 3:1

Father, I want to be admired. I might as well say it out loud, since You already see it. There is a deep longing in me that belongs to You, but I have aimed it at cheaper things. I have been chasing approval the way someone chases the one they love, and approval is not love. The number of likes does not love me. The teacher I am trying to impress does not love me. The crowd I am performing for will not even remember me by Friday. Take this hunger and put it where it belongs. Make me want You more than I want to be noticed. I do not want to spend these years trying to look impressive to people who barely think about me at home that night. Make me less interested in standing out and more interested in standing somewhere real. Humility is not me hating myself. It is me telling the truth: I am small, and You are big, and Your love for me is enough. Amen.
