Bible story
Death and Burial of Sarah Prayer
Anchors: Genesis 23:2, Genesis 23:16
Father, Abraham buried Sarah, and he wept. He did not skip the grief because of his faith. He bought a cave, the first piece of the promised land his family ever owned, and he laid her to rest. The years did not soften the loss. Be near to those who are praying this in the weeks after the funeral. The bed is too large. The conversations they would have had are still in their heads. The small ordinary moments — a meal cooked for two, the routine of the morning — are now hollow. Hold them. Send the people of Your church to sit with them. Give them what Abraham had — the dignity of a place to bury, the slow recovery, the ability to live forward without forgetting. Amen.
