Father, this is the promise we have been waiting for: You came to be with us. Not in a perfect way. Not in a quiet way. But right here. The day will not look like a perfect Christmas. The baby may not nap. The dinner may be eaten standing up. The relatives may overstay their welcome. But Your name is still Immanuel. God with us. In the small kitchen. In the loud living room. In the tired evening. You did not come only for the first Christmas. You came for this day too. Be with us today, plainly. Amen.
