New mothers
Prayer for new mothers
Anchors: Psalm 38:21
Father, David prayed in Psalm 38, "Forsake me not, O Lord." A simple sentence from a low place.
I echo it tonight. Not because I think You will forsake me. Because saying it out loud is part of how I trust You.
Do not forsake me when the night feed is at three again. Do not forsake me when I do not feel anything in prayer. Do not forsake me when I am cranky with my partner. Do not forsake me when I forget to read the Bible for a week. Do not forsake me when I cry in the shower. But also do not forsake me when the baby's hand is on my face and my heart is so full it hurts.
I know You will not. I am saying it to remind myself.
Stay near. Through the small backsliding and the small breakthroughs. Stay near because You are the only place I want to be.
Amen.
