Prayer for new mothers

Father, David once prayed, "Do what You promised." I have heard people pray big prayers back to You. Today mine is simpler. Just keep the small ones.

You said You would not leave me. You said You would give strength to the weary. You said Your mercies are new every morning. I do not need a new miracle. I need yesterday's promises to still be true today.

I trust they are.

My body is heavy. My eyes burn. But right now this baby is warm against my chest and that is a gift I did not expect to feel so deeply.

Do as You have said about my exhaustion. Do as You have said about my fears for this baby. Do as You have said about the friends I barely see anymore.

I am not asking for more than You promised. I am asking for that. Take this tired heart and these small words. They are Yours.
