Prayer for grandmothers

Anchors: Zechariah 1:8

Father, the prophet Zechariah saw myrtle trees in the low place. Small trees. Quiet trees. Hidden trees. That is more my life than the tall cedars on the hill. I have not been well known. My life has been a small place. A few streets. A church. A store. Friends I have known for years. But the angel of the Lord was standing among those small trees. He was not far above them. He was right there. That comforts me this morning. Lord, You still stand among the small and quiet lives. Your big plan for the world includes my little place. Stand among my life this morning. Stand where I live. Let my prayer for Your city include the people in my building, the families on my street, the church where I have worshipped for years. The low place matters. The small trees matter. Keep me a steady, quiet, faithful life in the place where You stand. Amen.
