Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: Mark 4:36
Father, in Mark 4:36 I see that when Jesus got into the boat, there were other little ships too. I so often miss that part. The story is about the storm and how You calmed it. But other small boats were out there in the same storm. That detail has comforted me in every hard season I have lived through. I am not the only little ship. The storm that shakes my boat is shaking other boats too. The widow on the second floor. The friend whose son has gone silent. The pastor's wife at the new church who is lonely. We are all in our own little boats, in our own storms, and we do not always see each other in the dark. Lord Jesus, You are in the boat with me. You are also in those other boats. Help me remember the other little ships today. Watch over the women I cannot see whose boats are also being tossed. Send them help the way You have sent help to me. And let me be a help to someone who needs a kind word or a small act of love. Calm the seas that need calming. Hold the ones who need holding. Keep us all in Your sight tonight. Amen.
