Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: Mark 3:13
Lord Jesus, You went up on a mountain and called the ones You wanted, and they came. That is Mark 3:13 this morning, and it stopped me in my chair. Father, You have been calling me for years and years. The calling is not just one day long. It is a steady pull that does not quit. You have wanted my company through decades I would not have picked for myself. The angry years. The doubting years. The years I was too busy with the children to give You much time. You kept calling. I kept coming up the mountain, sometimes late, sometimes out of breath. The verse this morning reminds me the calling is still happening. I am not done. I have not been let go. The going up is the simple obedience of today. Open the Bible. Stay a while. Listen. Do not rush off the mountain back into the small busy errands. Today let me come when You call. No delay. No arguing. The mountain is small at this age. It is this chair. It is the open page. It is the half hour before the world starts asking for me. Come up, You say. Coming. Slow and creaky, but coming. Amen.
