Prayer for grandmothers

Anchors: Numbers 14:11

Father, in Numbers 14:11 You asked through Moses how long it would be before Your people believed You. They had seen the Red Sea part and still doubted at the next hard thing. That question is fair. It is also fair to ask me.

I have seen so much of what You have done across these decades. You provided when we had nothing. You healed Walter when the doctors said he would not have long. You brought the prodigal back. You opened a door for the grandson when there was no door in sight. Each time I rejoiced, and each time I forgot by the next worried moment. The next hard thing finds me doubting again. That pattern humbles me.

Lord, let me take Your past works seriously enough to believe You for what is next. Not with pride. Not with loud confidence. But with quiet trust. Help me hold on to the record of Your faithfulness when the next fear comes. Let me say, You came through in 1974, and in 1987, and in 2008, and there is no reason to think You will fail me now. That is not arrogance. It is believing what You have already shown me.

Make my old age a believing one.

Amen.
