Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: Daniel 11:32
Father, Your Word says that the people who know their God will be strong and will do great things. Knowing You comes first. Then strength. Then the work You give us to do.
Lord, the things I do at this age are small. They are supposed to be. A walk to the mail box in the heat. A visit to a friend who cannot leave her room. A long phone call with a grandchild who will call me even when they will not call anyone else. These are not small to You. They are great things in Your eyes.
What makes them more than chores is knowing You. Over all these years my knowing of You has grown deep. I may not know more Bible verses than I once did. But I know who You are. I know You the way I know an old friend. I do not need to look You up. I just know.
That knowing is what gives me strength. Not my own strength. Yours. Send me out into this day on the basis of that knowing. The small tasks are waiting. The calls. The visits. The notes. Let me do them as one who knows You, not as one who is just pushing through a list.
You said that those who know You will be strong and will do great things. I am counting on that promise today. Make the work light, Lord, because I know the One who gave it to me.
Amen.
