Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: John 17:23
Lord Jesus, You prayed in John 17:23, I in them. Two words. You in me. I have read past those words so many times. This morning let me see them like new. Not just a nice thought. Not just a feeling. Your real Spirit in this real old woman sitting in this chair. The wonder of it has not gone away. Some mornings I forget to wonder. Today I want to remember. You are truly in me. So this small plain day has Your presence in it from the first cup of coffee to the last light of evening. This body is Yours to live in. The voice on the phone with my daughter is Yours to speak through, if I let You. The hand that writes a note to the widow is Yours to move, if I let You. The wonder turns ordinary again so fast. Let me hold it a little longer this morning, before the day gets filled with small worries. Shape this day by the truth of You in me. Amen.
