Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: 1 Peter 5:10
Father, Your Word says that after I have suffered awhile, You will settle me. That word catches me at this age. I have wanted to be settled my whole life.
The awhile has stretched over decades for me — through lean years, through long illness, through the slow loss of people I love. I am still being settled. The work is still going on.
Lord, settle me a little more today. Settle the heart that still flutters at the thought of what comes next. Settle the mind that still turns over old hurts when the house is quiet. Settle the body into the rhythm of this ordinary day, with nothing on the calendar but a phone call and a nap.
You are the One who does it. Not me. Not anyone else. You.
Amen.
