Prayer for grandmothers

Anchors: Lamentations 3:22

Father, Your Word says it is by Your mercies that we are not consumed, because Your compassions never fail. Lamentations 3:22. Jeremiah wrote that after Jerusalem fell. He had seen the worst, and still he said Your mercy won. I have not seen what he saw. I have seen losses, but none of them consumed me. Your compassions did not fail. I am sitting in a warm kitchen drinking coffee from a cup my granddaughter gave me. That is not the world Jeremiah wrote in. That is the world Your mercies built around me without my asking. Your Word says Your compassions are new every morning. I receive them again this morning. The kettle whistling counts. The arthritis being manageable today counts. The sleep that came when it could count. The chapter open in front of me counts most of all. Great is Your faithfulness. I am not consumed. Your compassions did not fail. They are new this morning, like the loaf of bread I will slice for breakfast, and I take both as gifts from the same hand. Amen.
