Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: Song of Solomon 2:16
Father, my beloved is mine, and I am His. Song of Solomon 2:16.
This verse started with a young bride, but it has become mine over many years. I have been His longer than I was anything else. He has been mine longer than my husband was, longer than my children were little, longer than my parents were strong.
I have lost some of those people. But the loss did not break this promise. His love is older than my loneliness. It is stronger than the quiet that comes some afternoons.
I do not need fancy words for this. It is a calm fact. The Lord Jesus is mine. I am His.
Whatever this day asks of me, it asks of a woman who is not alone. Whatever this night brings, it comes to a woman who is not alone.
This verse is not just for Valentine's Day. It is the shape of my real life. Let me live inside it today. I will not try to dress it up. The plain statement is enough.
It has been enough for believers who said it long before me. It is enough for me too.
Amen.
