Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: Psalm 119:18
Father, the Bible on my lap is the one my husband gave me on our anniversary in 1979. The cover is held together with tape. The margins are full of dates and arrows and the names of people I prayed for. There are notes in my own younger handwriting that I do not always remember writing. And yet the verses are still doing what they did then. They are still wondrous. Open my eyes again this morning. Not to a different Bible. Not to a harder one. To this same one, with new sight. Let me see something today I did not see at thirty-five. Let me see something today I had stopped seeing at fifty. The wonder is still here. My eyes need You to do their part again. Amen.
