Prayer for grandmothers

Anchors: Genesis 16:13

Father, You see me. That is what You told Hagar in the wilderness, and it is still true for me today. I am older now. The world does not look at women my age the way it used to. The cashier scans my groceries without a pause. The waiter forgets to come back. The doctor's office runs late and the receptionist does not know my name. I am not angry about this. I am just telling You what it feels like. And then I hear it again. Thou God seest me. Even now. Even in the chair where no one else is looking. Even when the room forgets I am there. Your seeing does not change when other people look away. You see the same daughter You have been seeing all my life. Let me rest in that this morning. Let me not need any other eyes to know I am still here. The eyes that matter have never looked away. Amen.
