Prayer for grandmothers

Father, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:5.

Father, I have been Your daughter for a long time. I was Your child before my own children were even born. You signed the papers in Your Son's blood. That will never change. Even when I forget, You do not. Even when I feel far off, the adoption stands.

So let me live today like someone who belongs at home. Not like a guest trying to earn her place. Let me do the small things today as Your daughter, not to become Your daughter. Let me pray like a child talking to her Father. Let me read Your Word like a letter written just for me.

The price was paid long ago. The adoption is older than I can remember. Settle me into it again this morning, Lord, while the coffee is still hot.
