Prayer for grandmothers

Father, Your Word says, 'The evening and the morning were the first day.' Evening first, then morning. That still surprises me. I sat with that tonight as the kitchen lamp came on and the windows turned dark. Today is ending and tomorrow is beginning, in Your time, while I am still washing the supper dish. That is a comfort. I do not have to invent a fresh start at sunrise. The fresh start is already happening, in the quiet hours when I sleep, by Your work, not mine. So let me hand this day over without a big goodbye. The good of it was Your doing. The bad of it I have confessed in Jesus' name. The things I didn't finish are not left alone. They will keep being worked on by hands that do not get tired. I am tired. I lay it down. The first day was evening and morning. The last one will be morning that never ends. I trust the One who arranged it that way. Amen.
