Prayer for grandmothers

Father, by night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth. Song of Solomon 3:1.

Father, I still seek You. Sometimes it is at night. Sometimes it is in the morning, in the chair by the window, in the chapter of John I am reading slowly.

The searching is not as loud as it was when I was young. It is more like the way I look for my glasses now. I know they are close. I have not lost track of where they tend to be.

You are the same. I have not lost track of where You tend to be. You are usually closer than the searching.

Thank You for being found. Thank You for showing up, again and again. I am not asking for something new or bright. I am asking for the familiar light through the kitchen window. I am asking for the familiar voice in the familiar Book.

Be found this morning by a seeker who has been looking for a long time, and by one who is just beginning.
