Prayer for grandmothers

Anchors: 2 Timothy 4:8

Lord Jesus, Paul said there is a crown of righteousness laid up for him, and not for him only. That is the part I keep coming back to this morning. I am still running my course, but it is not a private race. There are people I love who I trust will receive this gift too, by Your grace and not by mine. Help me run my few remaining laps without watching theirs too anxiously. Let me long for Your appearing the way Paul did, not as escape from the run, but as the natural ending of it. My body grows tired more easily than it used to. Some of my runs are now walks, and some of my walks are sits. But none of that changes the crown. The crown is not for the fast. It is for those who love Your appearing. Make me one of them today. Let my love for You show up, not in great gestures, but in the steady choice to look to You alone for my hope. Amen.
