Prayer for dads
Anchors: John 15:4
Father, John 15:4 says, abide in Me, and I in You. Abide is a slow, quiet, simple word. Not, work hard at Me. Not, sprint toward Me. Stay. Sit. Remain.
I am bad at abiding. I am better at striving. Sit still in Christ for five minutes and I will check my phone twice. I keep skipping the staying because there is nothing to show for it when it is done.
Train me toward it. Two minutes today of staying in Your presence without going anywhere. Not asking for things, not listing my worries, not even praying about other people. Just sitting in You. Let that be enough as a starting place.
Lord Jesus, You are the vine. Apart from You, I can do nothing. Help me practice the quiet act that does not look like anything from the outside — the slow, small, unseen work of staying close.
Amen.
