Prayer for dads

Father, I do this in my head all the time. The worst version of every uncertainty plays on a loop at 2 a.m. The kid will never recover. The job will fold. The conversation will go badly. I write the disaster movie in advance and then react as if it has happened.

David once thought, I will die by Saul's hand. He believed the worst and ran the wrong way. I do the same thing. I listen to fear instead of Your promise.

Catch me in the script-writing. Remind me that the version in my head is not what You have said. The real outcome is in Your hand. Most of my forecasts are wrong. The middle of the night is a terrible time to make plans.

Lord Jesus, You slept in the boat while the storm raged because You trusted the Father. Help me rest in that same trust. The Father is awake. Let me sleep through some of my mental storms.
