Prayer for dads

Father, Your Word says in Ephesians 1:11 that we have an inheritance in You, planned out by Your own wise will. I am not the one writing this story. I am part of what You are writing.

That goes against everything in me as a working man. I plan. I project. I forecast cash flow. I think two quarters ahead. Most of that is good. But deep down, I have started to believe the future depends on how sharp my plan is instead of on the One who actually holds tomorrow.

Loosen the grip without removing the responsibility. Let me work hard and trust harder. Let me make my plans and hold them with open hands, knowing You can change the details and my inheritance in You is still safe.

Lord Jesus, You knew exactly what was coming and You did not panic. Give me that same calm trust for this Saturday in August. I cannot control how this year turns out. But I can receive it from You and give my best to it.
