Prayer for dads

Father, Your Word says that those You call are chosen by You. I do not understand all of that, and I will not pretend I do. But I notice this: when I try to figure out if I am really Yours by looking at how strong my faith is, I get nowhere. I just find more failure.

Help me look at Jesus instead. He came for sinners. That is plain. He does not turn away anyone who comes. That is plain too. I came. I keep coming. That seems to be enough for Him. Let it be enough for me.

Keep me from making my assurance depend on how well I prayed this morning. Some mornings are flat. Some are bright. You are not measuring me by my mood. You are measuring me by Christ, and He is faithful when I am not.

Lord Jesus, You chose me before I chose You. Keep me close enough to hear that again on the days I forget. Let me walk into this day quiet inside about the question, Am I really His?
