Prayer for dads

Father, the manna in Exodus 16 came down every morning. Not saved up. Not stored away. Each day's portion came with the dew. I run my life the opposite way. I try to save up energy, save up patience, save up prayer, and live off the leftovers until they run out.

Help me come back to daily gathering. Today's faith for today's load. What got me through last week will not be enough for this week. What helped me last year does not power a hard Tuesday in July. I need fresh help this morning.

Teach me to ask plainly: Father, I need bread for this day. Patience for this kid. Words for this meeting. Strength for this talk I have been putting off. Then help me take what You give me and use it, not hide it away for some day I think will be harder.

Lord Jesus, You taught us to ask for daily bread. Give me today what I need, and I will trust You for tomorrow when tomorrow comes.
