Prayer for dads

Father, my pastor is preaching this Sunday. I will sit and listen, but he will be tired. He will have done weddings, hospital visits, and hard phone calls all week. And I will hear his sermon and probably not think about him again until next week.

You told us to pray for one another. He is a man, not just a title. He has a marriage, a body that hurts, and bills like mine. Help me carry him in prayer—not as something extra, but as something a brother should do.

Make me a man who actually does this. Let me say his name on the drive to work. Ask You to give him clarity when he preaches, courage when he counsels, and gentleness with his own children. Help me stop being just a listener and start being a brother to his soul.

Lord Jesus, hold him up where I cannot see. Give me the small faithfulness to lift him while You do.
