Prayer for dads

Father, Your own Son learned obedience through suffering. Even Him. I keep thinking obedience should come easy if I know the right things. It does not. It comes the slow way, through the small hard things that wear down my self-will. The prayer that does not get answered yet. The friend who lets me down. The boss who is not fair. Each one is a lesson. Help me stop trying to skip the hard parts. The point is not getting around them. The point is being shaped by them. Make me a little more obedient by Friday than I was on Monday. That is enough.
