Prayer for dads

Lord, Paul wrote, "Let us not sleep, as do others." He did not mean our eyes. He meant our hearts. I drift more than I want to say. The news, the schedule, the to-do list — they put me in a low hum where I am moving but not really awake. Wake me up today. Not with a crisis. With attention. To the wife saying something I usually nod past. To the kid whose mood is off and whose story I have not asked for. To the colleague who is struggling and too polite to say so. Keep me awake enough to see the people in my own house. Amen.
