Prayer for dads

Father, even the good things I do are mixed with wanting credit. The prayer I prayed in the car was half about being seen. The kindness I showed at dinner had a thread of wanting You to notice. I do not think You are scolding me. I think You are showing me how much of my good is still cut with self. Cleanse it, Father. Not by making me afraid to do good. Make me less interested in how it reflects on me. Let me serve my wife today without keeping score. Let me be patient with my son without filing it away as proof I am the patient kind of dad. Let the good I do be plain and simple and Yours. Amen.
